Kent Perkins will be going for his fourth straight Overall and Pro 1000 Class titles at the night race, July 16.

(contd...)

The July 16 race promises to be a hotly contested battle between series top notch drivers such as Cain Smead, Bradley Howe, Josh Westling and series Points leader Kent Perkins who will be going after his fourth Overall and Pro 1000 Class wins, going against some of the best drivers in the BITD and SCORE series..

The PURE UTV SERIES is a GPS-based series where the Navigator has now an equal part in the success of the team. Limited course markings and arrows are used on the entire 21.6-mile course so it’s up to the Navigator to stay on top of the course and direct the driver accordingly. In recent races, many of the competitors have credited their wins and their high placings to the job of their individual Navigator to get them to the finish line. One racer commented that he has never driven harder and more exact as he did at the last race, as he followed his Navigator’s directions to the teeth.

Branden Sims is no stranger to the AVE events as he has raced them on several occasions. He is currently a factory backed racer for Polaris RZR, who recently has been competing on the BTD, SCORE, and King of the Hammer events. He is definitely a top-notch contender as in the last few seasons he has amassed tremendous finishes in the 2014 Baja 500, where he placed 2nd in Class, in the 2014 Baja 1000 where he took the top spot, and in the 2015 UTV World Championships, where he landed as the Overall winner. And if that weren’t enough he finished 2nd at the KOH and 1st in Class in the prestigious 2016 Mint 400 a few months back.

Jacob Shaw, who has been a privateer racer in the 2015 UTV World Championships in Short Course, and has amassed as many as 17 podium finishes out of 20 races. The factory-backed Shaw is now branching out into desert races with the Polaris RZR Turbo.

The third marquee-racer to join the AVE/BP night race is Wayne Matlock, who has a solid desert history. A few of his notable recent finishes are 2015 Baja 1000 Overall UTV, 2nd place at the 2016 Mint 400 and 2016 Baja 500, where he won in the factory-backed Polaris RZR.

As you can see, it’s going to be a “no-holds-barred” romp through the desert night on a twenty-one-mile-plus course that has a bit of everything in it. Just to keep people on their toes, Race Director, Alan Bell stated,  “the first two and a half miles will be technical and slow, while the mid-race course will offer very fast whooped sections.” Still the race is not finished or the lap completed until you covered the last mile and a half of the course. Fortunately, for pitters and officials the entire 21-mile-plus course is laid out within a five-mile radius for easy access and easy chase.

This marks the fourth event of the six-event 2016 Series that is sure to set off some alarms. The weather should be in the mid-eighties as the first vehicle takes off at exactly 8 p.m. from the Alta Vista Ranch starting area. Earlier in the day, a “drawing” will take place for starting positions, with each vehicle leaving on 30-second intervals.

First vehicle/racer to complete seven laps will get the Checkered flag, signaling the end of the event. All others thereafter will also get the Checkered flag and their laps will be counted accordingly. Even if you have not completed all seven laps, you will be considered a finisher of the event.

PCI ONCE AGAIN THE OFFICIAL RACE COMMUNICATIONS RADIO FOR AVE/BP

For immediate press release…

PCI THE “OFFICIAL RACE RADIO”

WILL COVER AVE/BAJA PROMOTIONS

FOR YET ANOTHER FULL SEASON

California City, CA – January 8, 2016 – Lou Peralta, head of AVE/BP announced today that PCI Race Radios will once again be the “Official Radio Communications” Company for the entire 2016 season, including the PURE UTV Series, the SuperCourse Series and the newest events in the AVE/BP’s schedule, the “Drone GP Series.”

PCI has long been a sponsor and supporter of AVE’s and BP’s racing event since the organization started back in 1986. One of the first calls Lou Peralta made on behalf of Baja Promotions was to the then fairly unknown, Bob Steinberger the “Weatherman.” Bob took on the challenge and for a number of years was the voice over the radio for all of Baja Promotions events, then in SCORE and HDRA, plus others.

Today, no major off-road event takes place without the “Weatherman” being there to assist not only the organization itself but every single racer, whether that race team is using PCI communication products or not. You do not run a race without the “Weatherman” being on-air helping control the entire organized mayhem. Bob has been know to stay up twenty-four hours plus during one of the long races, making sure everyone is accounted for before hitting the sack. Today he still manages to make most races and has developed excellent assistants to handle races communications.

Peralta commented; “I don’t think I’ve ever put on an event without PCI being involved in some way. Even when we started the Off-Shore Series for personal watercrafts, The Weatherman was there several times to help, especially the first two Long Beach-2-Catalina & Back Off-Shore races, we’ve always used his equipment.”

PCI will post the following Contingency plan for the 2016 PURE UTV OFF-ROAD DESERT SERIES:

  • pay 1st Place only in ALL Classes
  • $50 credit towards and PCI retail product r service
  • Racer must use PCI decals on both sides of vehicle, in a visible location

  • Racer must register ith Sanctioning body’s Tech/Contingency
  • Must meet all requirements
  • Call PCI or e-mail Maura at maura@pciraceradios.com to claim award

California City, CA – January 5, 2016 – Lou Peralta, owner of AVE/BP RACING announced today that Baja Designs has signed to become the “Official Light Source” Manufacturer for the 2016 PURE UTV OFF-ROAD DESERT SERIES. According to Lou Peralta, owner, and promoter of the six-event series,  “We are delighted with Baja Designs joining our effort this year. They are as pumped-up as we are about our series and not only producing the products that most racers would love to have but they, too, will field several teams to compete throughout the year.”

Race Director Alan Bell also said, “Besides these guys are racers. They know what the racers want so there’s no bull behind what they offer. They test, they race and then they make it available to the racers. That’s a good combination to have.”

Baja Designs will be attending every event of the series and will be on-site not only to offer great deals for their lights to racers but they are also committed to posting contingency throughout the year. Here is their Contingency Program:

For Twenty-plus years Baja Designs has engineered revolutionary ways to stay at the forefront of motorcycle and automotive lighting. The first product developed was a Dual Sports kit that made a pure off-road motorcycle minimally street legal.  This intimate knowledge of motorcycle electrical capabilities led to a natural evolution to engineer the first HID motorcycle race light.  Owner/Lead engineer Alan Roach and Product Development Engineer Stephen “Tex” Mitchell were avid Baja 1000 motorcycle racers who were able to fine tune a motorcycle’s limited light optics to maximize rider comfort, speed, and safety.  As a result, BD Lights have won every professional and amateur motorcycle and ATV Baja 1000 class for over 15 years.

Racers can visit their site at http://www.bajadesigns.com/led-light-bars-led-lights where they offer technical support, discuss the “science of lighting” and, of course, sell you their great product. And by the way, if you are looking to hook up with a great company as a dealer representative, they are up for that as well.
